How I Deleted My Quora Account (Step-by-Step Guide)

So, I created a Quora account a while back. Maybe I was curious. Maybe I had some random questions like, “Do fish sleep?” or “What happens if the sun explodes?”

But eventually, I just decided I didn’t need it anymore.

No shame in that. Sometimes we just grow out of things or realize we don’t need them. So, I figured it was time to delete my Quora account for good.

If you’re like me and ready to say goodbye to Quora (or just want a break), this guide is for you. I’m going to walk you through exactly how I did it, step by step, in a way that’s easy to follow. No confusing jargon. Just simple, clear instructions.

Let’s get started!

What Is Quora, Anyway?

For those of you who aren’t sure what Quora is, let me quickly explain:

Quora is a website where people ask questions, and other people answer them.
You can:

  • Ask things like: “Why is the sky blue?”
  • Answer questions like: “How do I train my dog?”
  • Follow topics like “Space,” “Music,” “Gaming,” or “School”

But, sometimes, you just don’t need it anymore. And that’s totally okay.

Deleting vs. Deactivating – What’s the Difference?

There are two ways to leave Quora:

OptionWhat It MeansCan You Get It Back Later?
DeactivateThis is like hitting pause. Your account is hidden, but not gone.✅ Yes
DeleteThis means it’s gone forever. All your questions, answers, and everything else.❌ No

This guide is for deleting your account — not just hiding it.

You Can Do This on Both Phone and Computer

I know some people like to use their phone, and others prefer a computer. The process is a little different depending on which device you use, but I’ll show you how to do it on both.

How I Deleted My Quora Account on Desktop (Laptop or Computer)

Step 1: Log Into Quora

First, go to www.quora.com.
Enter your email and password to log in.

Step 2: Go to Settings

Next, look at the top-right corner of your screen. You’ll see your profile picture (or a little icon if you haven’t uploaded one).
Click on that, and then select Settings.

Step 3: Click “Delete Account”

In the Settings menu, go to the Privacy section.
Scroll all the way to the bottom, and you’ll see this option:

Delete Account
Permanently delete your account and all content.

Click the red “Delete Account” button.

Step 4: Enter Your Password Again

Quora is going to ask if you’re sure you want to delete your account. They want to make sure you aren’t making a mistake. So, they’ll ask you to type in your password again. Do that to confirm.

Step 5: Done!

Once you confirm, your account will be deleted in 14 days.
If you log in again during those 14 days, your account will be reactivated, so be careful about that.

How I Deleted My Quora Account on Mobile (Phone or Tablet)

You can’t delete your account through the Quora app — you’ll need to do it through your mobile browser (like Safari or Chrome).

Step-by-Step (Mobile)

  1. Open your browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.)
  2. Go to www.quora.com
  3. Tap the menu icon (three lines ☰ in the top-right corner)
  4. Tap Settings
  5. Go to Privacy
  6. Scroll down and tap Delete Account
  7. Type in your password
  8. Tap Delete

That’s it! 🎉

Want to Take a Break Instead?

So, if you’re ready to say goodbye to Quora, now you know exactly how to do it. It’s not scary. Just click, confirm, and it’s done.

But hey, if you’re just feeling overwhelmed and need a break, don’t forget you can always deactivate your account instead. That way, you can always come back later when you feel like it.
