You ever scroll through Instagram, see a hilarious video, or some dog doing a backflip, and think,
“I NEED to keep this forever.”
So you tap around, look for a download button, and…
It doesn’t exist.
Instagram’s cool like that—lets you watch the goods but not take them home.
But don’t worry—I figured out a super easy way to download any Instagram video, and I’m about to show you exactly how I do it.
Before We Start—Let’s Be Real
I only download videos to watch later or keep for myself.
Not to repost and pretend I made them. That’s just trash behavior.
✅ Saving funny stuff to my phone? Awesome.
🚫 Stealing other people’s content? Nah.
Be decent.
What I Use
Here’s what I need to get it done:
Tool | Why I Need It |
---|---|
My phone or laptop | Gotta have something to download on |
A browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.) | To open the download site |
The Instagram app or site | To grab the video |
A free video downloader website | The magic part |
My Step-by-Step Method (Super Simple)
STEP 1: I Find the Video I Want
I open Instagram, scroll until I hit a video I wanna keep. Then I tap the three dots (•••) at the top-right of the post.
Here’s what that looks like:

STEP 2: I Copy the Link
Once I tap the dots, I tap “Copy Link.”
Now I’ve got the secret link to that video.
Easy.

STEP 3: I Open a Video Downloader Site
I pop open Chrome (or Safari), and head to one of these sites:
They’re all free, and I don’t need to sign up for anything.
STEP 4: I Paste the Link
The website has a box that says something like “Paste Link Here.”
So I do exactly that—paste the Instagram link I copied.
Then I smash the Download button.

Here’s the vibe:

STEP 5: I Pick the Quality and Save It
Once the site loads the video, I pick the download quality I want (HD if I’m feeling fancy), then I hit Download again.
The video saves to my:
📱 Phone – Usually shows up in Downloads or my Gallery
💻 Laptop – Drops into the Downloads folder
Done.
Some Stuff I Wondered at First (You Might Too)
Does this work on iPhone?
Yeah. I just use Safari or Chrome. If it asks for permission to download, I say yes.
Do I need to install anything?
Nope. All done in the browser. No sketchy apps or weird plug-ins.
Is it okay to do this?
If I’m not reposting or claiming it’s mine, I’m good. I just save things for my own use.

That’s It! You Did It!
Now you know exactly how I save videos from Instagram whenever I want.
No apps. No stress. No drama.
So next time someone sends you a hilarious reel or a wholesome clip, you won’t lose it to the scroll gods. You’ll have it locked down.
Final Tips from Me
- Don’t click sketchy ads on those download sites
- Make sure you know where your phone/computer saves the file
- Don’t be that person who reposts without credit—respect the creator
Look, Instagram doesn’t make it easy to download videos—but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Once you know the steps, it’s honestly super simple.
You don’t need to be a tech genius. You just need the right tools and a couple of minutes.
